Hello and welcome back to the
Language Literature and Philosophy blog. Our goal is to keep students informed
about LLP events. Last week, we had a couple of events involving our department.
The first was a mock interview session hosted by the Career Development Center. As an English major, I am always looking for
other ways to market myself with my degree other than just teaching or writing.
Having the opportunity to meet with companies like Lockheed Martin and Regions was
amazing. Also, the Film Club is hosted a viewing of “12 Years A Slave” in light
of Black History Month. I know a few of my professors were giving extra credit
for those who went and watched the movie, so I hope some of you took advantage
of that.
There is
more to come this week. On Thursday we have a playwright master class with Kia
Corthron. This event will not be public, so be on the look out for pictures and
videos on our Facebook and Twitter page.
The film club is hosting a viewing of “V for Vendetta” Friday at 11am in
Humanities; I definitely look forward to chatting with Dr. Wise about her movie
choices for this month. Our last event of the week is a Pupil to Professional workshop on Interviewing and Career Fair
strategies. That workshop will be held
Feb. 19th at 2:30 p.m. in Humanities 113. We hope to see you at our
events this week and for those of you who came last week, we hope to see you
again!
Until next time,
Alexis Brooks
